What Is a Tradeline?

Tradeline is an industry term for the accounts found on your credit report. Every time you open a new credit card or another type of loan, a new tradeline appears.

Tradelines you may find on your report:

  • Mortgages
  • Auto loans
  • Credit cards
  • Student loans
  • Installment loans

What is a Seasoned Tradeline?

You may also hear this type of tradeline referred to as an ‘aged’ or ‘old’ account. A line of credit that a borrower has had for two years or longer is a seasoned tradeline. It’s a good thing to have on your credit report because it is an account with an established history—it shows that you have been responsible for this particular tradeline for a substantial period.
